In the "Rubaiyat" the message I got out of it was to treat othe people how you would like to be treated.  They believed that if they did this they would get into heaven with Alah.  The manner of kings taught that someone should not expect mercy if they themselves don't show mercy.

The Flood

The two flood stories are very similar. In the Gilgamesh story there was a lone suvivor, just like noah in the bible.  Also it rained for a very long time in both to cause the flood.  It wasn't a tidal wave or hurricane that caused it, just rain.  Also in both stories the flood was started because a God or gods were angry at the mortals.
